“H” On The Telly
Our very own Harry aka “H”, was featured with his owner Christine Clarkeson on the S4C programme Ffermio in a piece about their farrier. “H” was an absolute star to the point that the presenter wanted to take him home with her, Christine told her that she would be at the back of a very long queue.

Photo competition.
Sarah Hadley is going to run a photo competition in the winter and the winning photo will appear on the cover of WES news with a write up in the magazine about the photographer! There will be a prize for the winner and runner-up with a special prize for the top youth participant. The subject can be anything that you think would make a great WES news cover so keep your camera handy! The competition will be judged by a professional photographer and photos can be colour or black and white and can be sent by email or post.

WES CHAMPIONSHIPS 22-24 AUGUST
Don't forget the Versatility Inter-Area Challenge on the Friday evening which is a new event this year. Area 6 will be represented by Anne Howkins-Mackay with Coals Dee Olena and Mike Gatt with HR Dualin Smart. Both Anne and Mike are working hard to learn the pattern. If you are going to be there please show your support by cheering them on. I am sure they will appreciate it.
Good luck to all Area 6 members who will be competing over the Championships weekend.

"Go-Rounds" - what are they?
With the number of entries at shows increasing it is now commonplace for there to be "go-rounds" in some of the more popular classes such as the novice Pleasure and Trail Classes. This is to ensure the safety of competitors and also to ensure that we can finish the show at a reasonable time. In the case of trail the go-round is often held earlier in the day (or even the day before at a weekend show) in a separate arena with the final held in the main show arena. Usually it is around 10-12 horses that go through to the final because the points awarded go down to 10th place. With Pleasure classes go-rounds tend to be held immediately before the final. Please check the show schedules carefully and if there is any mention of a go-round make sure you do not miss it. Please also be aware that show organisers cannot always predict the number of entries so go-rounds may not be announced until the day of the show.
